I was too scared to post this on Indeed so I'll just put it here since I spent time on writing it:
tl;dr: Apply for Microsoft department instead of any other department because anything else is an absolute train wreck in terms of any structure or advancement options, as well as fair pay versus the average in the Tucson area.
I recently decided to review Mural on Indeed.com and GlassDoor because, despite working there for almost 2 years I have not gotten an annual raise but I keep getting responsibilities piled on top of me. I'm okay with this but at the same time they underpay a couple of departments of employees which is very saddening to see, including myself. For the basic IT work departments working with CenturyLink however and getting to work with Office 365 outside of the Microsoft department they have there I would definitely say it's good pay for the work, right now it's $12 an hour and some people might have seen ads for the new position that's opened up on CenturyLink for the Application Technicians.
However, the Application Technicians are being paid more than some of the other departments who are doing far more intense work than the Application Technicians, and the whole of the Microsoft department as well. This is one of my main gripes about this place, and I absolutely hate having to have ANY gripes about this place...
...Because the work culture here is GREAT. Everyone is very supportive of each other, there's no bullying or anything of the sort. There are free lunches for the whole company (either sandwiches or pizza) on Fridays and it's a very relaxed atmosphere, but it is important to have a good work ethic (be on time and keep up with your customers and work in general) or you will get bonked out on your butt so fast.
I absolutely love working here as an employee and I really hope that there is an annual review system put in soon before I get to my next year there, as the average salary of a person doing what I'm doing right now would be getting paid an average of just over $16.50 an hour according to Indeed and LinkedIn.
Management is also banking on distracting people with free food every week and bi-monthly "parties" that just don't come around often enough to be worth it to stick around that workday and when you figure it out, aren't worth it enough to be underpaid. I'd rather be paid more than have free food and small "parties" that are just booze and snacks. They do sometimes have cookouts and stuff as well.
They also implemented a bonus structure recently which quite possibly they expected to take the place of raises, but it's not guaranteed you'll even bonus at all in the CenturyLink department if you're not working on the advanced team, and if you're on the advanced team there still isn't enough work for people not working with large corporate accounts to make the work worth it for the bonuses you're getting unless you happen upon a 30-user migration and they all need Office 365 licenses or something. The Microsoft department does not get bonuses but they make more than enough money to cover what the other departments get in terms of bonuses.
This workplace is a great place to get your feet wet with IT work in a very supportive environment, but if you expect to be fairly compensated for your work if you move up the ladder, look somewhere else, because they don't have a system for annual reviews in place, and it's like pulling a whole mouth of teeth for getting them to "promote" with a raise as well.
If you DID want to still work there, I would highly suggest applying for the Microsoft department as their pay is controlled directly by Microsoft and has a very smooth advancement rate to be done in that department in general and has very clearly defined skills and roles.
